Materials:

Hook: U/E sizes 12 or 14

Silk: Brown

Body: Three Strands of Black Dyed Condor or Peacock Herl

Hackle: Two Natural Black Cock Wound on so that the Convex sides are turned against each other.

Head: Single Strand of Black Dyed Condor or Peacock Herl.

Legs: Two Strands of Black Dyed Condor or Peacock Herl tied with Points trailing back.

Method:

  1. Take brown tying silk down to the hook bend.
  2. Tie in three strands of black dyed condor or peacock herl.
  3. Twist the black dyed condor or peacock herl anti-clockwise and wind two thirds of the way up the shank and tie in.
  4. Then take two strands of the same material and tie these by the butts, one each side of the body sloping back and under the body to form the long trailing legs.
  5. Two natural black cock hackles should be wound on with the convex sides against each other.
  6. Finally wind on a single strand of black dyed condor or peacock herl in front of the hackle and behind the eye to form the head.
