Materials:

Hook: LS sizes 6 to 14

Silk: Black

Tail: Black Cock Hackle Fibres

Body: Black Chenille (lead can be added first)

Thorax: Chenille (Lime, Green, Red or Orange)

Wingcase: Black Chenille

Legs: Black Cock Hackle

 

Method:

  1. If required start by take the tying silk about ¼ of the way down the hook and tie in four turns of lead wire, then run the silk to the bend of the hook.
  2. Tie in at the bend to form a tail the black cock hackle fibres followed by the black chenille for the body.
  3. Wind the black chenille to behind the lead and secure. Do not trim. Then secure the black cock hackle.
  4. Secure the chenille for the thorax and wind to just behind the eye, secure and trim.
  5. Now wind the black cock hackle between the turns of the thorax chenille, secure at the eye and Trim of the top fibres.
  6. Take the black body chenille over the thorax area to form the wingcase, secure and trim. Then form a neat head, whip finish, and varnish.
