Materials:

Hook: D/E sizes 8 to 12

Silk: Red

Rib: Oval Gold Tinsel

Body: Red Seal's Fur or Wool

Hackle: Large Natural Red Cock

 

Tying Details:

  1. Commence by running the tying silk to the bend of the hook and tie in the oval gold tinsel.
  2. To form the body dub the tying silk with the red seal's fur or wool and wind ¾ of the way up the shank.
  3. Tie in the large natural red cock hackle and wind palmer style to the bend of the hook.
  4. Catch in the hackle with the oval gold tinsel which should be ribbed back up the body through the hackle to the eye where it is secured and trimmed.
  5. Make a neat head, whip finish and varnish.
