Materials:

Hook: D/E sizes 10/14

Silk: Black

Tail: Golden Pheasant Crest Feather

Body: Flat Silver Tinsel

Wing: Hen Pheasant

Hackle: Natural Light Red Palmered with Blue Jay at Head.

 

Method:

  1. Run the Black tying silk down to the bend of the hook.

  2. Tie in the tail and flat silver tinsel. Then run the tying silk back the eye of the hook.

  3. Tie in the natural light red hackle and make three or four large turns to the hook bend.

  4. Take the flat silver tinsel and palmer through the hackle up to just behind the eye, secure and trim waste tinsel.

  5. Secure the blue jay hackle and make two or three touching turns then secure and trim waste.

  6. Make a wing with the hen pheasant, trim waste, make a neat head, whip finish and varnish.
