Silk: Brown
Tail: Brown Pheasant Tail
Rib: Pheasant Tail Fibres
Body: Pale Yellow Wool
Thorax: Pheasant Tail Fibres with Leaded Underneath
Wingcase: Pheasant Tail Fibres
Legs: Cock Pheasant Tail Fibres
Method:
- Start by take the tying silk about ¼ of the way down the hook and tie in four turns of lead wire, then run the silk to the bend of the hook.
- Tie in at the bend to form a tail the 3 or 4 brown pheasant tail fibres followed by the a single pheasant tail fibre secured by it’s tip for the rib, also tie in the pale yellow wool.
- Wind the wool to behind the lead and secure. Rib with the single pheasant tail fibre and secure. Do not trim either at this stage.
- Continue on with the wool to just behind the eye, secure and trim.
- Take the single pheasant tail fibre over the thorax area three or four times to form the wingcase.
- Remove the hook from the vice and secure it up side down. Take six pheasant tail fibres bend them in half and secure under and on each side of the thorax to make the legs of the nymph, trim any waste, make a neat head, whip finish and varnish.
