Materials:

Hook: D/E sizes 6 to 10 LS

Thread: Orange Tying Silk

Tag or Collar: Scarlet Nylon Floss

Rib: Scarlet Nylon Floss

Body: Flat Silver Tinsel

Throat Hackle: Hot Orange Cock Hackle

Wing: Hot Orange Calf Tail

Head: Scarlet Nylon Floss

 

Tying Details:

  1. To dress, wind orange tying silk down the shank to the bend.
  2. Tie in a length of Scarlet Nylon Floss and make two turns to form the tag or collar of about one eighth of an inch then secure, leave enough floss for ribbing.
  3. Tie in flat silver tinsel for the body, take the tying silk back to the eye.
  4. Wind the flat silver tinsel up the shank of the hook to near the eye and secure, this is followed by the ribbing, tie in and trim. A coat varnish is applied to the body and rib.
  5. The throat hackle of hot orange cock hackle fibres is tied underneath and sloping well back.
  6. Tie in on top of the hook immediately behind the eye a substantial bunch of hot orange calf tail fibres slightly longer than the hook and sloping well back.
  7. Form a neat, large head using scarlet nylon floss, whip finish and varnish.
